Spiritual Food Suggestions

I am someone who enjoys unstructured time with God. That means I like to eat different spiritual food each day (vs. the same book - except of course the Bible) for different lengths of time each day.  I love the idea of adding time with God into the day rather than taking something away for Lent. I heard on Valentine's Day that LOVE = TIME so I think a way to show God our love is spending time with Him. I hope you find one or more of these resources to be a great fit!

What Fits You Best?

These are a few books I think you will love. "Prayer for Beginners" is a short little book you can keep in your car and read when you have 5 minutes. Perfect for those times you have to sit and wait for someone. "Discerning the Voice of God"  by Priscilla Shirer was one of the most life-changing books I read 10 years ago. If you want to better understand that topic, I highly recommend it.


"Gracelaced" is a very graphically beautiful devotional that I use a few times a week and it goes with the seasons. If you are on Instagram go to @gracelaced or on Facebook at GraceLaced and you will see what I mean. Now imagine those beautiful pictures and scripture painted so attractively you can't wait to see what is on the next page!


I am just starting "Resisting Happiness" by Matthew Kelly. My friend said it was a good, fast and easy read. I like to have small daily devotional books like "Prayer for Beginners" or "Gracelaced" and then topical books like the two others in my quiet time bag for easy access. Of course God's Word is the most important book to be in and good spiritual food will always point you to God's truth in scripture. In fact, it makes you want to open the Bible and dig deeper.
